Why I Started Africshop

These are reasons why I started Africshop. In a world filled with mass-produced items, I wanted to build something meaningful a space where culture meets commerce, and creativity is rooted in authenticity. That’s how and why I started Africshop, an African online store based in the UK.

I’ve always been passionate about African culture — from our vibrant fabrics and traditional crafts to the stories passed down through generations. But for far too long, African fashion and skincare products have been underrepresented or misrepresented, especially in the UK.

There was a gap, I lived in Europe for years, I saw the gaps— people wanted African-inspired products but struggled to find authentic, high-quality options at a deserving price in the UK, another reason why I started Africshop. Africshop fills that gap by making it easy for anyone to access beautiful, original products that reflect African heritage and innovation.
